More than 40 000 years ago , Périgord became our ancestral home ! They let us a fabulous and unique heritage , sculpted or drawn on the wall of sanctuary caves like LASCAUX , one of the world's most famous tourist sites . But Périgord is not only wellknown for prehistoric treasures . More than 1000 castles and as many mediaeval villages still around .

No passion for prehistory or middle age ? Périgord is also one of France leading gastronomie heartlands . So many things as been said and written about it , but cèpes , magret or foie gras is a temptation too stong to be resisted !

But to finish , let me tell you what I prefer . . . Picturesque markets full of flavours and colours , ponds and trouts rivers , forest of oak and chestnut trees where cèpes play hide and seek in the fern and bucks in the bush , and then farm where people will let you you know their own secrets about Périgord .
